Hi, I’m going to show you how to download music from your Spotify App for free using a Mac, currently I’m in OS 10.11.5 (El Capitan) but every other “newer” system should work.
First we need to download the latest version of Spotify (http://spotify.com) currently I’m using version 1.0.29.92.g67727800 but my guess is that it should work with any newer version, if not please leave a message so I can update it in the blog.
Ok second thing to do is download the app/script (Spotify Audio Hijack) which I compiled from the script of Johnny B Good tumblr, with a few modification in the script to match Spotify’s newer bundle identifier (Thanks Download here.

After that you need to download Audio Hijack Pro v2.10.7 (it has to be this version, I could not make it work with new versions). Follow the ReadMe.txt in order to have it fully working. Download here. https://tkevxi.weebly.com/spotify-with-lyrics-app.html.

When you’re done now just open the Spotify Audio Hijack App and automatically it will open Spotify and Audio Hijack Pro, this message will appear:
Check Audio Hijack Pro and make sure it look like this:
Take a look at the recording tab under Audio Hijack Pro so you know where your music is going to be downloaded to:
In my case it will downloaded to Music/Audio Hijack/
Audio Hijack Pro is “listening” into Spotify App and when you start a playlist or a song it should change to this:
That means that Audio Hijack Pro is recording what Spotify is playing, the downside is that you have to wait till the song is over for proper recording (no fast forward or backward during the song). After that you should see the music under the folder and it will be saved with the artist and song name like this:
Remember you have to wait the full length of each song for it to record correctly.
Ignore or delete the %tag_artist-XXXXXX.mp3 files they’re the ads that are on Spotify when you don’t have a premium account.
Any questions feel free to ask! Enjoy.
